Scourge of war, a mixture of science fiction, military adventures and political intrigues, is the second book in the post-apocalyptic trilogy Jeff Carlson. The landscape of nightmare has a real image of a global economic slowdown, however, with the invasion of nanotechnology. I jumped into this book to read without one and had no problem in acting. The book serves as an independent. But the full story of how our world is so screwed up, you can start with feverYear.

Nanotechnology developed cancer battle is accidentally released and killed most of the world population. The nano-plague, something like a virus eating meat freeze at altitudes above 10,000 feet, so that the surviving population fled to the mountains.

Dr. Ruth Goldman, a researcher, a vaccine against the plague, the survivors, but the government lets them go because they will not be vaccinated for their own production schedule. The U.S. government wantsuse the vaccine as a tool to decide to live. Ruth said is on the search for survivors and hope to immunize as many as possible. Travelling with her is Cameron Najarro, a survivor of the Sierra Nevada. But the government of their plans for the vaccine and will have at nothing to get Ruth. Not surprisingly, there is a group of rebels who are interested in Ruth. But there is another disaster, man, that war will change things can lead toforever.

This story is interesting and original painted a bleak picture of technology gone wrong. There are a lot of action, but is essentially a story based on the character of survival. Carlson shows the desperation of his hero with great clarity. And the sexual tension between Ruth and despair Cam. Real fear comes to an end will not come. A third book, The Plague is the horizon of the spirit.
