A Day to Remember

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." Silence

Kids eat hamburgers and hot dogs. Adults have a steak and salad. Ice cream is the dessert of strawberries and yogurt, blueberry and vanilla is a festive air to the side. It seems a bit 'strange that we remember those who died for eating out, Frisbee and drinking lemonade in the shade.

But that is how Americans have come toHonor our heroes.

What started as a day after the decoration of the civil war in 1866, became a national holiday, celebrated in this country, to our picnic and barbecue. It all started with concern activist Henry Welles, a resident of Waterloo, New York, revealed that soldiers, civil war must be respected and remembered he was dead. His fellow citizens are agreed, and together and celebrate with crosses and bouquets of flowers on eachtomb of the patriot. The town flag was raised at half mast. Local veterans led a procession through the streets.

Waterloo honored those who died in the spring, and two years later, General John Logan officially proclaimed the fifth of May decoration. E 'was officially launched by the May 30 compliance, and the tradition began - after the First World War when the South was in recognition of his patriotism and - in 1882 when the name was changed to Memorial Day. Until 1971 it was declared a national holiday, and now ourentire nation must annually on the last Monday in May, a working day, a day of school, football tournaments state travel, gardening and all day long honey-projects, additional coupons in the shopping and last but not least, the 'smell of cooking meat on the grill.

We took a day to honor our heroes and put in a big, happy your name, American. And I'm guilty as others.

Reflecting this sense of history and whyThe show I would like my children, cooked in small things. (And this is not the case with most things in life?) Requires an awareness in them the principles that built this great country for us. Are needed to inject a healthy shot of patriotism, despite all the hatred of many, what we stand for ... new cross another danger to life and physical integrity of our borders.

It is necessary that we give them the names of some high shoulderin which our freedom. Are required to remember.

Just as we do - Hamburger and frisbee on one side?

Or you have a healthy debate - but has endured more than hot dogs on the cover - the need of our country to maintain our freedoms. Share with them stories of relatives and friends whose freedom is threatened, or who have never tasted the sweetness in the first place. My parents sent their four children on two separate floors for America without the 'Knowing that you can see more. They sacrificed all in the name of freedom and democracy.

Confirm or read - at some point in fighting this year - a book on the history of America, or the wars in which our citizens. Although not their "thing" and prefer cuddling on the couch with The Secret Life of Bees. It is painfully aware, the human cost of the freedoms that we really like.

or see a war movie with older childrenFamily to help them have a realistic picture of the horrors of war. gruesome scenes can be fast, at age of these children is still not enough to manage your way, for many, seeing is believing.

Or participation in a local parade - or visit a cheering crowd. Show your support and enthusiasm of those who fought for liberty. Flag and the applause for the heroes of our country a long way in promoting national pride.

Or Take time to pray for our president, closest advisers, and other world leaders. The maintenance of strong leadership in wartime is a difficult task with prayers for his perseverance, emotional and physical strength and wisdom, good decisions will go a long way to go with us to make our large circle of brotherly love .

Pray for those families or those who serve our country to war to maintain, even in strategic locations around the world in search of democracy. Pray for peace for spouses and childrenrear, left, and the brave men and women services, the performance of their relatives long arms.

Above all be grateful. Be thankful for each one of freedom - both large and small - that you will enjoy Because Every other day Were willing to sacrifice name. Never, never, your actions, or freedom for granted.

Enjoy this Memorial Day!
