Review of BBC North and South

North and South is a television adaptation of the novel by Elizabeth Gatskell. During the series of four episodes the quality is excellent and the continuous case is a strong interest. In the context of labor disputes, the program easily pulling in the Victorian era and is an important sign of the crisis and the emotion of the moment.

There are several strong characters, one of the most fascinating is the factory owner John Thornton, played by Richard Armitage. Our firstImpression of him as a tyrant who beat Miller employees. As the series progresses slowly experiencing the qualities of honor, especially his expression of pure love, it seems to Margaret Hale (played by Daniel Denby-Ashe) But like many other characters is not easy. His attitude to striking workers are employed in the hands of the Irish research at any price in the heart of the distribution of workers. On the one hand, that seems not to have compassion forThe fate of their workers, even in the last episode, there is an unexpected reconciliation with a union leader (M. Higgins), these scenes of food in the canteens of luck Mr. Armitage factories are really moving. Especially because the program does not escape the harsh realities of the sector in Britain with the highest death and conflict. The most striking feature of John Thompson is the way it deals with the refusal by the woman of his heart, Margaret Hale. He had the opportunityto their shame, but the choice of a path that reveals his inner anguish, despite their frustration out. The final scene at the station is not the same as the book, but it seems a fitting and rewarding.

Another wonderful character who is the mother of Mr. Thornton, played by Sinead Cusack. He shows his open hatred of Margaret Hale and her hope that her son is not married. It may be that he could become a character, but apparently his openness and honestyredeeming qualities that speak to the viewer is ambiguous in its attitude toward women that lasts Yorkshire.

There is much celebration in the program, and the matter is this granted. But Mr. Thornton's sister, Fanny, played by Jo Joyner has a very good bit of a 'rich lady unnecessary and irresponsible. But once again its simplicity gives Yorkshire a quality of sympathy and easily a good contrast with the other characters sometimes seemrelentlessly bleak. All managers must apply their understanding of a strong Yorkshire accent, which has a lot to the atmosphere of the film is rented.

Another character with a complex, Mr. Higgins. Proud, loyal and honest to be selfless dedication to the cause of the Union. Mr. Higgins embodies the sacrifice for the good. But at the same time, Margaret Hale has said that only the harshness of a union that has supported the Treaty Boucher. Boucher is a member of a unionBreaks the rule of non-violence and then creates the strike and the hostility of Mr. Higgins. The heart, if merited, the Union takes this treatment in silence "among the losers in life" to suicide. Leave six orphaned children. But Mr. Higgins once again demonstrates his reputation when he stopped responding to the responsibility of six children. driven to despair by the lack of work to finally bite the pride and follow the advice of Margarita in search of work, the assistance of Mr.Thompson. This leads to a period of collaboration, the best of both men.

The strike is a dominant feature of the film in a dark background for the play of emotions and relationships highlighted in the script. The strike comes at a very neutral. We see the workers at the same time, a passion that ended years of abuse, we see the other side of the debate. Even if the owners of the plant can be very arrogant, wepoint of view. There is no romance and more. Margaret Hale seems to be one of the few people in the village caught between the dining room with the Thorntons and other teachers who speaks his mind boldly imprisoned by the workers. This is another topic of great scene with Mr. Thornton against the woman who wants to marry.

There are many other good reasons, including North and South said. This is a euphemism wonderful story of love, we see our firstImpressions of people can be moved slightly. There is also strong support from the power of true love, which remains the examination of the situation. Like many adaptations for television, whether the book to find the joy characterized by significant changes to read the story. But if you read the book, not only can you enjoy the show very well acted.
